It’s a favorite in the Cambridge Port neighborhood—a celebration of the community, by the community, with a brass band, an auction, student performances, dancing to live music, and a dinner of delicious Caribbean food. We have incredible Sweet Soul Supper Sponsors who support the Margaret Fuller House and the thousands of folks who depend on us. See our 2018 Soul Supper Sponsorship Guide here.
Each year, we have an award ceremony to encourage and publicly commend two local individuals for their dedication to community service. The recipients are rewarded with a Lieutenant Kenney Spirit Award and the Sion Chambers Youth Leadership Award.
Do you know someone who deserves recognition for their work in Port/Area 4? Submit a nomination via email telling us why they deserve to be commended.
Planning for the Sweet Soul Supper starts months in advance, and we’re always looking for committed volunteers to help us put this party on. If you’ve got experience in event planning, art, community organizing, fundraising, or marketing, we’d love to hear from you. And if you simply want to help, but don’t know how, rest assured: we’ll find a way.
Tickets are $100per person or $40per person for guests 65 and up.
In 2015, Margaret Fuller House celebrated its ten year anniversary of the Sweet Soul Supper! We commemorate all we have accomplished over the past ten years and are so grateful to have shared our vision for the future with you.
The 10th Annual Sweet Soul Supper was held on Thursday June 18th at MIT’s Morss Hall, Walker Memorial Bldg,- 142 Memorial Dr., Cambridge. The VIP cocktail hour began at 5:30 p.m and the event started at 6:30 p.m.
Hundreds of community members joined us for a fun, festive evening to support Margaret Fuller House programs and services. Attendees enjoyed an assortment of Caribbean/southern style food, great music and dancing. Thank you for helping us make the tenth year of this wonderful event extra special!
In 2014, The 9th Annual Sweet Soul Supper took place at MIT’s Morss Hall on Thursday, June 19th. It was a beautiful night spent with friends old and new, families, neighbors, and our amazing supporters. We were serenaded by the sounds of the Nine Mile Radius, the Dirty Water Brass Band, and SambaLoLo, who kept the crowd dancing into the night. Taste de Tropiks once again served up a delicious Caribbean feast for all. We awarded the Lieutenant Kenney Spirit Award to Councillor E. Denise Simmons and the Sion Chambers Youth Leadership Award to Elijah Booker.
There was fierce bidding on our amazing Silent Auction items, as well as a truly heartwarming show of generosity from our community as people donated to support Youth Summer Scholarships to attend our amazing Summer Explorations Program. Through our sponsors, ticket purchases, silent auction proceeds, and donations at the event, we raised over $85,000 to support our vital programs. This effort is a testament to the incredibly generous and supportive community of Cambridge, and we are incredibly grateful.
