MFNH Volunteer Opportunities
The Margaret Fuller House welcomes volunteers in all our program
services. Please help us build a strong Area IV Community.
We use 100’s of volunteers each year in our food pantry, our
computer center, our children’s programs and as administrative and
fundraising support.
Do you have a special talent you might like to share---or
neighborhood activity or group you might like to start? We welcome
your ideas and your input! Your involvement will make a tremendous
difference!
Please review our opportunities and call 617 547-4680 or email our
Volunteer Coordinator, Toni Bee, at margaretfullerhouse@yahoo.com.
The New Exchange Library
Volunteers are currently needed to sort books and prepare for the
Spring 2008 opening of the exchange library.
School Age Children’s Program Volunteer
If you like working with children this opportunity is for
you.
Our after school program operates from 2 PM to
5:30 PM on most school
days. Volunteers work with small or larger groups of 5 to 12 year old
children. You can share art, science, literacy, math, gardening,
sports, music….whatever special idea or project you might like to
do. Tutoring and help with homework is also an important activity in
our after school program. You will also work with great folks and
receive training if needed. Just one afternoon a week can mean a lot
to some very special kids.
Summer Explorations
Our full day summer program also needs volunteers. Our program operates from 8:30
each morning till 5:30 PM. Even one day a week can be great fun for
you and the children. We take lots of trips and share a wide variety
of educational and fun activities.
If you are interested in working with children lease call or email
Mark Stearns, Director of our School Age Programs at
stearns.mark@gmail.com.
Food Pantry Volunteers
As a Pantry volunteer you will learn first hand what working with
the community is all about. You will assist in preparing food boxes
for food pantry participants. A food box is a combination of canned
and/or dried foods consisting of the basic food staples required for
a healthy nutritional diet. To complement this, the food pantry also
offers weekly fresh produce made up of a variety of fruits and
vegetables. Our volunteers help with restocking our selves, clean up
chores, recycling of boxes, and the unloading of food trucks that
supply our pantry.
Our pantry is open on Wednesdays from 5-7 pm, and Thursday,
Friday, and Saturday from 9- 12 pm. We also appreciate
help Wednesday morning since that is the time we receive our food
shipments.
People come to the food pantry for many reasons of need from
disability to unemployment, to simply needing a little extra help.
Our volunteers understand the sensibilities involved in caring for
those that are less fortunate and we treat each member or client
with the respect and that they deserve as a member of our society.
If you are interested in a satisfying job just call the Food
Pantry Director Bryan Hewitt at 617.547.4680 or email
Bryan at bhewitt@margaretfullerhouse.org.
