Collaboration with Cambridge Center for FamiliesThe MFNH and the Center for Families (CF) established a new partnership
in 2006. This collaboration will expand MFNH services as we jointly
support families with very young children.
Our purpose in coming together is to develop and implement family
support programming and services that enrich the available community
resources at the Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House and help the Center
for Families to reach more families in the City by sharing resources and
building on our different strengths.
The Center for Families is a part of the City of Cambridge, Department
of Human Service Programs. The program provides activities and services
to support Cambridge families with young children 0-6 years old. The
Center is based on the idea that programs for families should be:
accessible, universal, strengths-based, holistic, preventive, and
culturally competent. All Center for Families services are free and open
to all Cambridge families.
Our collaborative program at Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House
includes:
• information and referral resources,
• one-on-one support for parents,
• play activities for parents and children of different ages,
• parenting education workshops and support groups, and
• community-building activities
We see this as an extremely important collaboration as the MFNH and the
Center for Families are reaching many new families of Area IV. Our
collaborative program offers parenting skills and group support for
parents doing the hardest work there is – raising children.
If you would like to participate or you know a parent or family that
might benefit from joining a parent/child activity group or a parent
group please contact:
centerforfamilies@cambridgema.gov or call 617-349-6385
An updated schedule of activities will be available soon.
