Community Building

One of the goals of the Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House is to
provide a place for Area IV residents to come together, meet each
other and build a stronger community. Our new
Volunteer Coordinator,
Toni
Bee, actively seeks out local
initiatives and ideas for programs.
Our
monthly potlucks,
held the last Thursday of every month, have been an
opportunity for neighbors to meet each other, discuss concerns and
have an enjoyable evening. Poetry Evenings
are held on alternate Wednesdays, with upcoming meetings on February 20th, March 5th and March 19th, all from 6 - 8 pm.
A new initiative this year is the creation of an
exchange library. We have renovated a central room
in the House and begun its transformation into a library where
community members can take, leave and exchange books as they please.
Our hope is to create a welcoming space that will be available for
informal meetings and strengthen our connection to the community.
Our
board and staff are also very committed to building a stronger Area
IV community through collaborative and community-wide projects.
The House hosts a variety of community
organizations and is available for classes and meetings.
The annual
Area IV Pride Day brings
the neighborhood together for a relaxing and fun day. Pride Day has
been a tremendous success in drawing 600 to
1000 residents to
share entertainment, food, children’s games and activities, sporting
events and community information booths. We will continue similar
community-wide events and will provide opportunities for neighbors
to become better acquainted and to work together toward common
goals.
