Our Technology
Center goal is to reduce the Digital Divide for Area IV residents.
Fluency with technology is now crucial to one’s ability to succeed in
the emerging global information society. Students gain confidence in
using various applications and will begin to transfer this knowledge and
confidence into their working and/or job search environment.

Over 200 different community residents use our lab each
year--some monthly, many each week, and several almost daily. Our
Technology Lab provides an opportunity for users to learn new and also
upgrade their skills. Many access the Internet for job searches, e-mail,
and research. Some clients use the computers to prepare resumes and job
applications with the support of our Outreach Staff and our computer
Teacher. We see “daily access” as a critical step in helping young and
older adults make positive career changes. Most of our users do not have
computers in their homes or Internet capabilities.
Community Access: We have recently purchased eight new
CPUs for the lab and have had the extensive help of a volunteer IT
professional that helped upgrade our lab and computer capabilities. The
new computers have addressed hardware and software issues, and revamped our
computer network.
Come in and visit our technology lab. We are also
looking for volunteers!
