Our Technology Center provides computer and internet access to more than 150 adults and teens annually. Many do not have access to computers or the internet at home. Some stop in to research job opportunities. Others drop by just to meet other folks, check their email, and be in touch with family and friends.
With support from volunteers and the guidance of our computer teacher, we offer free specialized classes that build computer and English literacy, both critically important to improve the employ-ability of participants.
Margaret Fuller House’s free conversation groups are on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 11 to 12. It is an opportunity for folks from different ethnic backgrounds to get together and practice their English in a comfortable “family” group. Computer classes meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 11 am to noon.
Students work with our computer teacher individually or in small groups. We provide a basic introduction to computers or more advanced Word, Excel or Power Point classes.
If you would like to learn more about how computers work, set up an email account, take a free class, write your resume or a cover letter, search for employment, or explore the internet. Please drop by the House and let us know your interests or you can call 617-547-4680. Classes are from 10-12 on Tuesday and Thursday. Young adults (18-35 yrs) are invited to visit and work with our Street Worker on resumes, job applications and housing or job searches.
Our Technology Center is open weekdays from 9:30 to 5:30. Just come in and feel comfortable using our computers whenever you might like. You may sign up for classes and conversation groups by dropping in or calling during open hours.
