Food Services

The Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House food services program provides emergency food to over 16,000 individuals and families each year.  Our emergency food pantry provides low to moderate income individuals a two week supply of food twice a month.  This extremely important service is growing in need as our statistics show a steady increase of individuals requiring access to affordable food.

Emergency Food Pantry:

The Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House food services program provides emergency food to over 16,000 individuals and families each year making it the largest volume food pantry of the 12 in Cambridge.  Our emergency food pantry provides low to moderate income individuals a two week supply of food twice a month.  With the majority of the food insecure residents coming from The Port community.  The pantry is staffed by more than 25 volunteers a week, in addition to staff and puts out about 40,000 pounds of food a month to the community.  We strive to promote a connection to other needed services and make sure that the client feels that they have accessible and equitable services offered to them as they work towards independent and sustainable lives.  Going forward, resource representatives from city programs and local nonprofit programs will be onsite to address the needs of our client base during our hours of operation.   We partner with the Greater Boston Food Bank, Food for Free and Lovin Spoonfuls to acquire the abundance of food needed to meet our demands each week.

Pantry Hours:
Wednesdays: 5:00PM – 7:00PM
Thursdays: 2:00PM – 5:00PM
Fridays & Saturdays:  9:00AM – 12:00PM

Thanksgiving Turkey Drive:

Each year our pantry provides over 500 holiday baskets to feed thousands of low to moderate income families on the Thanksgiving holiday.  We once again partner with the Greater Boston Food Bank, who provides the bulk of our donations, and local grocery stores to provide local families with the supplies for a full Thanksgiving dinner.   Volunteers from our community, local high schools and universities, and our corporate partners all gather at Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House to unload the massive food donation, set-up, and distribute the food.
